We made one of our several visits to the Claremont Hotel to remind ourselves about the size and shape of the two rooms not too long after we realized we had actually sent 100 invitations which equaled at least 200 potential attendees.
It was the same room, but, it looked a lot smaller now. We had been imagining, very early on, that we’d have between 75 and 100 guests. The room looked really big, then. Now that there was the possibility that 200 people might show up, it looked really, really small. We did know that one of the mathematical laws of wedding invitations required that the number of attendees to be a certain percentage smaller than even all those confirming their plans to attend. There is another law, of weddings, not math, that when you’re panicking, math isn’t all that reassuring. |
